Device is showing as "Not Compatible"
If you have a device that is showing as "Not Compatible", there is a method to check for why this is the case.
How to Check
- Find the device that is showing as "Not Compatible". Open its Device Details page, and scroll down to the Troubleshooting section.
- Click the Review Checklist button to open a list of what's wrong. It could be multiple issues, but generally the checklist will try to provide you with as many details as possible:
Error examples
Disk space:
This example for 3GB of disk space is a placeholder disk space check, which checks to see if there is enough space on the device to install an update. It will still attempt to install the update regardless, but it may mark it as incompatible.
Connection issues:
The message states that it has connection issues with the Windows Update Server. Although this is technically true, this status is usually caused by a Windows Update error code that's being encountered during Automox Agent scans. Open the Windows Update GUI and use the "Troubleshoot" button to see if you're able to find it quickly. If not, go ahead and submit a request to Automox Support.
With macOS, the connectivity to Patch Source check is indicating an issue with the device on a connectivity check to swscan.apple.com on port 443.
nc -z swscan.apple.com 443
