How to Stop or Cancel a Splashtop Streamer Deployment

The Splashtop Streamer is installed and removed through commands sent to your devices from Settings → Remote Control. An install or uninstall command that has already been sent to a device cannot be canceled while it is in progress. There is no in-flight cancel control.

What you can do instead is stop the Streamer from continuing to roll out, and reverse installs that have already happened. This article covers both.

Stop Auto-Installing on New Devices

If the Streamer is being installed automatically as devices join your organization, turn off the auto-install setting:

  1. Go to Settings → Remote Control.
  2. Under Deployment → Organization Wide Settings, turn off the New Device Installation toggle.

This stops the Streamer from being installed automatically on newly added devices. It does not remove the Streamer from devices that already have it. To do that, uninstall it (below).

Uninstall the Streamer (Reverse a Deployment)

The device list on Settings → Remote Control shows every device and its Streamer Status:

  • Ready — Streamer installed and registered
  • Failed — Streamer failed to install or register
  • Not Installed — setup has not been started

To remove the Streamer from devices it has already deployed to:

  1. Go to Settings → Remote Control.
  2. Narrow the list to the devices you want using the Filters (OS, Group, Streamer Status) on the left, or the Search by device name box. To target everything currently installed, filter Streamer Status to Ready.
  3. Select the devices using the checkboxes. Use the header checkbox to select all devices in the filtered view.
  4. Open the Actions dropdown and choose the uninstall option.

The Streamer is removed silently. Once uninstalled, Remote Control is unavailable on that device until the Streamer is reinstalled.

Undoing an Accidental Install

Because an in-progress install cannot be canceled, the way to undo an install sent by mistake is to let it finish and then uninstall it using the steps above. If an install and an uninstall are both queued for the same device, the agent runs them in order and the device ends in the uninstalled state.

Checking Results

After an action, watch the Streamer Status, Last Install Attempt, and Last Result Returned columns for each device to confirm the outcome. Status data refreshes every 15 minutes, and offline devices process the command the next time they check in.

Permissions

Managing Streamer deployment requires the Remote Control Deployment: Manage permission, which by default belongs to the Full Administrator role. Read-only users can view this page but cannot install or uninstall.
