How to Apply a Remote Control Consent Setting to Multiple Devices in a Group

The Automox Remote Control powered by Splashtop integration allows administrators to configure whether an end user at a device must approve incoming Remote Control sessions before they start. By default, this is set per device, but the Automox console also supports applying a chosen consent option in bulk across multiple devices at once, which is useful when standardizing behavior across an entire group (for example, setting all servers to Not required (unattended) while leaving user endpoints on Required (attended)).

Prerequisites

  • Your role has the Remote Control Consent: Manage permission. This is included in the default Full Administrator role, and can be added to a custom role if needed.
  • The Splashtop Streamer is installed on the target devices.
  • Automox agent version 2.4.33 or later is present on each device.

End-User Consent Options

Administrators can choose from the following consent options when performing the bulk update:

  • Required (attended) — User must approve before the session starts. This is the default state for new devices.
  • Not required (unattended) — Session starts immediately with no user prompt.
  • Required — if user doesn't respond, deny — Session fails after 30 seconds if the user does not respond to the prompt.
  • Required — if user doesn't respond, allow — Session starts automatically after 30 seconds if the user does not respond to the prompt.

Steps to Bulk Update Consent

  1. In the Automox console, navigate to Devices.
  2. Filter the device list by the group you want to target (for example, using the Group filter in the device table).
  3. Select the devices you want to update using the row checkboxes. To select every device visible in the filtered list, use the checkbox at the top of the device table.
  4. Click Actions and select Configure Remote Control.
  5. In the dialog that appears, choose the desired End-user consent option.
  6. Click Apply to push the setting to the selected devices.

The selected consent option is applied to each device individually. You can verify the change on any single device by opening its Device Details page, expanding the Remote Control section, and reviewing the Settings area, which reflects the currently applied consent option.

Notes

  • Applying a bulk consent update does not change any other Remote Control settings on the affected devices, only the End-user consent option.
  • There is currently no organization-level default consent setting for newly added devices. New devices will land on Required (attended) by default and must be updated individually or via the bulk flow described above.
  • Bulk update actions taken from the Devices page are recorded in the audit trail for governance and review.
