Viewing Agent Recovery Options in Windows

The Automox Agent installs on Windows as a Windows service (amagent). Like any Windows service, the operating system's Service Control Manager can be configured to take automatic recovery actions if the service fails, such as restarting the service or the machine. This article walks through how to view the current recovery options set on the Automox Agent service so you can confirm what Windows will do in the event of an unexpected agent failure.

Steps to View Agent Recovery Options

  1. Open Task Manager and select the Services tab.
  2. Right-click on the amagent service and select Open Services.
  3. In the Services console, right-click on the Automox Agent service and select Properties.
  4. Navigate to the Recovery tab.

Default Recovery Options

An example of the default options is shown below:

The Recovery tab shows what action Windows will take on the first, second, and subsequent failures of the service, along with the reset period and any optional program to run. These values are set at agent installation time and can be adjusted here if your environment requires different behavior.
