Overview
A device can continue to show Health Warning even after scans are succeeding and inventory is updating normally.
This happens because the Health tab in Device Details is updated separately from the scan process that collects inventory and patch information. As a result, a device may show current scan data while still displaying a warning in one or more Health sections.
What Health Warning Means
A Health Warning does not always mean patching is failing.
In many cases, it means one or more health checks have not yet returned a passing result. These checks are designed to confirm basic device health, such as:
DNS resolution
HTTPS connectivity
SSL certificate validation
Example:
Because these checks are separate from standard scans, a device can appear healthy for inventory and patching while still showing a warning in the Health tab.
Why Health Warning Can Remain After a Successful Scan
A successful scan does not immediately clear a warning in Device Details.
Health data is collected and processed separately from scan data. This means the values shown in the Health tab may update on a different timeline than OS, package, or patch information.
Restarting the agent can help trigger a fresh collection cycle, but updated health information may still take time to appear in the console.
What to Review in the Health Tab
When a device shows Health Warning, open the Health tab and expand all sections.
The most common sections to review are:
Automox Agent
Includes checks such as agent service status, supported version, console connectivity, OS version support, and SSL verification.
DNS
Shows whether the device can resolve required Automox domains.
Platform
Shows whether the device can connect to required Automox endpoints over HTTPS and validate the connection successfully.
These sections usually indicate why the warning is present, even when scans are otherwise working as expected.
Basic Connectivity Check
If a device continues to show Health Warning, confirm that it can resolve and connect to the primary Automox endpoints used by these health checks:
api.automox.comconsole.automox.comrtt.automox.comrc.automox.comFor additional URLs see: Platform Firewall Allowlisting Rules
The device should be able to:
resolve these domains through DNS
connect to them over HTTPS on port 443
validate the SSL certificate successfully
If any of these checks fail, the device may continue to show Health Warning even though scans and inventory appear normal.
What to Do Next
Restart the Automox agent and allow time for the Health tab to refresh.
In some cases, it can take up to 24 hours for updated health information to appear in Device Details and for the warning to clear.
If the warning remains after that, collect the following and contact Automox Support:
a screenshot of the full Health tab with all sections expanded
the device ID
agent logs from the device
the results of any connectivity testing to the affected endpoints
Additional Information
Health-related values in Device Details are collected separately from scan data, so they may not update at the same time. This is why one part of the device record can appear current while another still reflects an older warning state.
For endpoint access requirements, see Platform Firewall Allowlisting Rules.
