Why are notifications not appearing when I run my policy manually?
Many tickets that are submitted for missing notifications can be explained because the policy was run manually. When you run a policy manually from the Devices page by selecting the "Patch Now" button or the "Run Policy" from the drop-down menu on the Policies page, the policy will skip the notifications and run immediately. This means the updates will install and a reboot may be issued without the end-user's knowledge. The idea behind this functionality is that when you want to "Patch Now" you would like to patch immediately without any delay from the end-user.

Scheduling your policies will ensure that the policy is executed at the given time and that your users will see both the installation notifications and reboot notifications.
